ALTECH INTRODUCES THE FIRST TRANSPORTATION NETWORK IN GHANA WHICH COMES WITH AN EMERGENCY WRIST BAND AND A TRAVEL HEALTH INSURANCE

ALTECH COMPANY to digitize rickshaw and taxi booking in the Country, registering taxis and rickshaws on the system and to also monitor the movements and ensuring the safety of residents by providing registered members with a LIFESAVER WRIST BAND and a Travel Health Insurance that keeps track of their movement in the country for we have recently been alarmed with the kidnappings happening in the country at the moment. 

This new transportation network application called YakaChana meaning “where are you headed to?” does not just help you get a sweet ride but it takes everything about you into consideration… your health, your safety, your schedule, and how you spend your money.

My name is Alhassan Wunpini but known as Alai in the Technological field. I am a 17-year-old Ghanaian from the North who started programming back in primary 6 and my motive has always been building a program that solved a problem in my locality, my country, and the whole world.

 Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Elon Musk have always been my motivation, I have been successful in creating a messaging app at age 12 after learning my first language in PHP. I am a self-taught programmer, I started learning to program watching tutorials on YouTube and from my social Media Indian friends.

When I was 13 I visited Bolga where I polished up my programming skills from a mentor in the North called Kolog John the CEO of Kolog Soft. And after his guidance, I have been successful in creating many applications including (hospital apps, educational apps, hotel apps, and agricultural apps). Now I have been able to set up my own Tech Startup with my friend (Mohammed Abdul Sobur), my brothers and some other friends. This Tech startup is called Altech.

Altech is a platform designed by a group of programmers and graphic designers all over the country who come together to build next-level computer software, android apps, websites/web applications, and graphic designs. Our products pass through a lot of testing to make sure it is error-free and secure for usage. We provide our clients with nothing but the best of services.

Another problem that we face in Ghana is that Ghana spends up to $230 million every year treating injuries and traffic fatalities.

 Dr. Dominic Konadu Yeboah, called for more awareness and investment in the sector to reduce the incidence.

Among the challenges with injuries from road accidents are delays in transporting road accident victims to nearby health facilities and lack of knowledge in handling such victims or administering first aid that could buy victims more time before reaching a nearby hospital.

2,341 killed in 2018 in road accidents; 795 are pedestrians

Data compiled by the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service has revealed that the total number of commuters killed in road traffic accidents in 2018 recorded a 12.76% jump over the figure for 2017.

This means persons killed rose from 2,076 in 2017 to a total of 2,341 in 2018.

It comprises 1,796 males and 545 females

POSSIBLE SOLUTION

With all this analysis, The Altech team came up with an idea to build a transportation network app called YakaChana(Where are you headed to?) which has an extremely easy dashboard for users, insurance companies, hospitals, bus companies and for taxi and rickshaw drivers. YakaChana has a module to manage everything starting from booking a cab or rickshaw, reserving a bus seat, calculating travel expenses, getting a Travel Health Insurance, and a Life Saver Wrist Band. The system also scans for nearby hospitals and their emergency contacts to make known to residents in case of any emergency.

This is not just a Transportation Network; it also works like a health care app because most of our nightmares are involving in an incident in a place you are not known.  

GOAL

Our achievement of this app is to ensure a safe trip, and easy booking of transportation means. Traveling is an everyday thing and one does not know when he/she will be involved in an emergency situation. Therefore, ensuring that when this incident occurs, one is prepared to endure it. The app, therefore, seeks to reduce drastically the lack of opportunity of not being saved in a travel emergency situation so this becomes a thing of the past.

v HOSPITAL FINDER: this feature provides users with the nearby hospital in the particular area he/she is and also provides the user with an emergency contact of the hospital. In case of an emergency, the app scans for a nearby hospital and the contact of the hospital pop up for quick dialing.

We believe that by the end of 2019 this system will be up and running, and we also believe that as time goes on, we will update the system to solve more problems in the health and transportation sector.
